"Ghost" a drive to a smaller drive, in Linux, free software tools

Apparently what one does, is:

  1. Create a partition image, using dd
  2. Use ntfsresize on the partition image, to shrink it down appropriately
  3. Use Clonezilla to copy that partition image to the new drive
